How Many New MBBS Seats Added in India?
For the academic year 2025–26, India has witnessed a significant rise in MBBS seats, marking a major boost in medical education capacity. A total of 9,075 new MBBS seats have been added across various medical colleges, increasing the overall count from 1,17,750 to 1,26,600 seats.
This expansion aims to enhance access to medical education and strengthen the healthcare workforce in the country, ensuring that more aspiring doctors get the opportunity to pursue their medical careers.
