NEET PG 2026: 6 Major Changes Every Medical Graduate Must Know

As per the NBEMS NEET PG 2026 notification, here are the six major key changes made in NEET PG 2026:-

1. Fewer Questions, Same Exam Duration
One of the biggest changes made in NEET PG 2026 is the reduction of questions. Previously, there were 200 MCQ to be answered but now NEET PG 2026 asks just for 180 MCQs giving candidates more time to answer each question.. Students must note that there is no change in the exam duration and it is still 3 hours 30 minutes (210 minutes).

2. Test State Selection Replaces Test City Selection
Earlier in 2025, students were required to select their preferred exam city while filling out the application form. But now, as per new NEET PG 2026 Brochure, students are now required to choose their preferred test states instead of individual cities.

This initiative has been taken by NBEMS in order to divide students more efficiently across available examination centres. Additionally, it reduces the burden of first-cum-served city allocation.

3. Aadhaar Authentication Becomes Mandatory
NEET PG 2026 makes Aadhaar authentication mandatory during the application and verification process. It will help in improving transparency throughout the application process and makes sure in preventing fraudulent application.

So, candidates must provide their valid Aadhaar details during the registration, ensure their biometrics are unlocked, and also avoid applying henna or any ink on hand in order to guarantee smooth verification.

4. More Details Become Non-Editable After Submission
NEET PG 2026 has now made key details permanently locked. In order to ensure data security and prevent fraudulent edit, this change has been made. So, now key details such as :-
•    Name of Candidate
•    Aadhaar Details
•    Registered Email ID and Mobile Number
•    Nationality
•    Correspondence Address
•    Test State Preference
All the key details mentioned above once submitted shall not be edited again and will get permanently locked.

5. Single Correction Window for Photograph and Signature
In 2025-26, NBEMS used to give multiple opportunities for image correction in NEET PG Application Form. However, now as per the new change made in NEET PG 2026, students will receive only one correction window to rectify.

Student can change photograph, signature and thumb impression at the single correction window for photograph and signature. Students must note that no second change will be provided and the photograph must be submitted in prescribed format as incorrect upload can lead to rejection.

6. Internship Cutoff Extended to 30 September
Another advantage offered by NBEMS to NEET PG Aspirants is the internship cutoff date extension. Students are now required to submit internship cutoff till 30th September 2026.

It will allow more students to apply for NEET PG 2026. Moreover, it is a relief to many students whose internship schedules were delayed due to institutional or administrative reasons.
