According to the National Medical Commission, there are total number of 823 medical colleges in India offering 1,29,456 MBBS Seats. Out of the total MBBS Seats, 449 Government Medical Colleges are offering 63,010 MBBS Seats while 374 are Private Medical Colleges offering 66,443 MBBS Seats.

Karnataka has the highest number of MBBS Seats i.e. 15,294. The primary reason being this is due to large number of private and deemed medical colleges established in Karnataka. Additionally, most of the colleges offer around 150-200 MBBS Seats which increases total capacity of students.
