Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling & Admission
ELIGIBILITY
A. UT Chandigarh Pool Candidates (85% UT Quota)
• Candidate should be an Indian Citizen of India
• Candidate should have qualified NEET UG Exam
• OCI/PIO/NRI students may apply for eligible category
• Student must be minimum age: 17 years by 31st December of the admission year
• Student should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with minimum PCB marks: General/EWS: 50%, SC/ST: 40% and PwD: 45%.
UT Chandigarh Eligibility Criteria
To claim UT Pool seats, candidates must fulfill any one of the following:
1. Completed Classes 10, 11, and 12 from a recognized school in Chandigarh
2. Parent has been residing in Chandigarh for the last 5 years
3. Parent is a Government/UT employee posted in Chandigarh for the last 3 years
4. Ward of defence personnel with Chandigarh as permanent address in service records
Relevant certificates and undertakings are mandatory during Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling Process. OCI card holders who obtained OCI status before 04.03.2021 may also be eligible for UT Pool seats if they satisfy the required conditions.
Seats Available for UT Pool Candidates
Eligible candidates can apply for UT Pool MBBS seats at Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh, NRI/Foreign Indian seats at GMCH (if eligible), BDS and BHMS seats under Chandigarh quota
B. Outside UT / Non-Domicile Candidates
Non-domicile candidates are not eligible for the 85% UT Pool MBBS seats.
However, candidates from any state can apply for:
• 15% All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS seats through MCC counselling
• General pool BDS seats at Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Dental Institute
NRI/OCI/Foreign Indian candidates may apply under eligible NRI/Foreign Indian categories as per official rules.
Chandigarh does not have private MBBS colleges or management quota MBBS seats.
APPLICATION
A. Application Process (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Visit Official Website
Primarily, every student is required to visit the official website i.e. gmch.gov.in and read the admission prospectus carefully.
Step 2: Register Online
Then student shall click on “Candidate Registration” and create an account using a valid email ID. An Application ID will be sent to your email.
Step 3: Login & Fill Details
Login using your credentials and fill the personal details, educational details, course and category preferences
Step 4: Upload Documents
Documents such as passport-size photograph, signature of the candidate (JPG format under 50 KB), required certificates/documents shall be required to submit.
Step 5: Review & Submit
Check all entered details carefully through the “Review Filled Form” option before final submission.
Step 6: Pay Application Fee
Pay the application fee online. The fee must be paid in a single transaction for all selected courses.
Step 7: Print Application Form
Download and print the application form for each course separately.
Step 8: Attend Offline Counselling
Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling Process is conducted through offline mode. Therefore, according to merit rank and availability of seats, MBBS seats are provided.
B. Application Fees & Rules
Application Fee (Per Course)
• SC/SC-PwD: ₹1,000
• General/General-PwD: ₹2,000
• NRI/OCI/Foreign Indian: ₹14,000
The application fee is non-refundable.
Important Rules
• No separate security deposit is required during registration.
• Admission fees must be paid on the day of counselling/admission through Demand Draft in favour of “Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh.”
• Failure to pay fees on time may lead to cancellation of admission.
• False information or fake documents can lead to cancellation of admission and forfeiture of fees.
• Original documents are mandatory during counselling. Digital or photocopy documents are not accepted.
Round 2 Eligibility
• Candidates absent in Round 1 can participate in later rounds if eligible.
• Candidates not allotted a seat in Round 1 are automatically considered for Round 2.
• Candidates already admitted in a course cannot participate again for the same course.
COUNSELLING
Counselling Process
GMCH Chandigarh counselling is conducted offline, although the application form must be filled online. Candidates must physically attend counselling at the Auditorium, O Block (Sarai Building), GMCH Sector 32, Chandigarh.
Reporting & Admission Rules
• Physical presence during counselling is compulsory.
• Selected candidates must undergo medical examination by the Medical Board.
• Original documents are retained by the institute after admission.
• Late reporting candidates will be considered only for seats available at the time they report.
Reservation Policy (MBBS – GMCH Chandigarh)
Out of 150 MBBS seats 15% AIQ seats filled through MCC, 9 NRI seats, 3 Central Pool seats and the remaining seats under Chandigarh UT Pool.
UT Pool Reservation
• SC: 15%
• PwD: 5% horizontal reservation
Unfilled reserved seats may be converted to General category seats.
BDS Seat Distribution
BDS seats are open to candidates from all states and include reservations for SC, ST, BC, PwD, NRI, and Central Pool categories.
Bond Conditions
Government MBBS Seats
Students admitted to GMCH Chandigarh may have to complete compulsory government service after MBBS. Bond amount and service duration are decided by the latest prospectus and UT Administration rules.
Management Quota
There are no private MBBS colleges or management quota seats in Chandigarh.
NRI Quota Rules
NRI students pay higher fees under the Foreign Indian Student category. If an NRI candidate leaves the course after admission, the remaining course fee may be forfeited as per bond conditions.
Students must note that the admission rules are governed by GMCH Chandigarh and Panjab University guidelines. Additionally, anti-ragging undertaking by both student and parents is compulsory at the time of admission.

Qualifying Criteria for UT Chandigarh Pool Eligibility
To claim UT Chandigarh Pool seats, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following conditions:
1. Schooling in Chandigarh
Candidate must have completed Classes 10, 11, and 12 as a regular student from a recognized school/college in Chandigarh. A school certificate from the principal is required.
2. Parent’s Residence in Chandigarh
Candidate is eligible if parents have been residing in Chandigarh for the last 5 years. A residence certificate issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh is mandatory.
3. Government Employee Quota
Children of Central/State/UT Government employees posted in Chandigarh for the last 3 years are eligible. This also applies to certain autonomous bodies linked with Chandigarh Administration. A department-issued employee certificate is required.
4. Defence Personnel Quota
Wards of defence personnel having Chandigarh as permanent address in service records are eligible. Relevant defence authority certificate is required.
Mandatory Undertaking
All UT Pool candidates must submit an undertaking stating that they have not claimed domicile/residence benefits in any other State or UT.
OCI/PIO Eligibility
OCI candidates who obtained their OCI card before 04.03.2021 may be eligible for UT Pool seats if they satisfy the required eligibility conditions. OCI holders who received OCI status after 04.03.2021 are not eligible for UT Pool seats but may apply under the NRI/Foreign Indian Student category. PIO cards are now treated as OCI cards.
NRI / Foreign Indian Student Quota
NRI/Foreign Indian Student seats at GMCH Chandigarh do not require UT Chandigarh domicile. Student must be of Indian origin and may be required to provide a proof of residence abroad for the required duration if there is a gap after Class 12.
